Anti-Wrinkle Injections

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle treatments consist of a purified protein which is injected into specific muscles of the face that contribute to dynamic wrinkles (lines that occur from repetitive facial movements when the muscle is contracted), and cause the chemical signal from the brain to the muscle to become blocked which allows for a more youthful and refreshed look.

How long does it last and when will I see results?

Anti-wrinkle injections can last from 3 to 4 months depending on the metabolic and lifestyle factors of each individual, and results can start becoming visible from 3 days, with the maximum effect occurring at 10 to 14 days after the initial treatment.

Is it painful?

Numbing agents are not generally used for anti-wrinkle treatments as it is such a quick procedure which uses a very fine needle, however, topical anaesthetic can be applied if needed to ensure that your treatment experience is comfortable. Please be mindful that everybody’s pain threshold is different and what may be painful for one person, may not be painful for another.

Are there any side effects?

After your anti-wrinkle treatment, you are likely to experience redness, minor swelling, tenderness and the potential of bruising. We recommend to avoid touching or massaging the area for 24 hours, avoid the consumption of alcohol and exercise for 24 hours and avoid laying down for at least 4 hours post treatment as this can cause potential migration or ptosis of the anti-wrinkle product and increase the risk of bruising. Make-up application should also be avoided for 24 hours after your treatment to reduce the risk of infection.

Due to Australian Regulations, we are unable to mention any brand names of injectable products that we use, however, we only use the highest quality prescription-only medicine that is available in Australia. If you have any further questions you are more than welcome to message us or book a complimentary consultation with Nurse Kaitlyn to discuss.
